Warrensburg, MO, Aug 28, 2012 -- In a ceremony on August 28, 2012, Anita J. (Janie) Dunning, USDA Rural Development Missouri State Director, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Johnson Board of Services. Johnson Board of Services received grant funds in the amount of $19,410 from USDA Rural Development’s Rural Business Enterprise Grant. The funds will be used to purchase new recycling bins for use at the Sheltered Workshop. This will allow the Johnson County Board of Services to purchase new containers to place at businesses and schools in Johnson County where cardboard is collected by the workshop staff.
“I am pleased that a $19,410 Rural Business Enterprise Grant will be used to allow the Johnson County Board of Services to buy new recycling bins for use at the Johnson County Sheltered Workshop in Warrensburg”, said Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler. “Facilities of this kind provide a valuable resource for our communities and this funding will be of great benefit those working with and served by the Johnson County Sheltered Workshop.”
“I’m very pleased the Johnson County Sheltered Workshop is being awarded the resources necessary to enhance their recycling business,” said U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill. “The addition of these resources will improve the productivity and capacity of the workshop, and expand job opportunities for the special needs community in Johnson County.”
“Sheltered workshops of the kind found in Warrensburg provide an essential service to their communities,” said Dunning. “I want to personally thank everyone that has worked together to make this project a reality. I am pleased that the community will benefit from the services of the sheltered workshop. Special thanks are extended to our federal elected officials for making available the federal funds for these projects.”
