(SEPTEMBER 9, 2012) USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT CELEBRATES FUNDING FOR NEW PUMPER TRUCK WITH HERCULANEUM FIRE DEPARTMENT
Herculaneum, MO, Sep 09, 2012 --

@@Kevin Hinkebein, Area Specialist of USDA Rural Development, presented the Herculaneum Fire Department with a Certificate of Congratulations for their purchase of a new pumper-rescue truck. It is an honor for USDA Rural Development to provide funding for these types of projects. The funds will be used to purchase a brand new fire truck for the Herculaneum Fire Department, the first new truck in 25 years. The fire truck will improve the fire protection services provided by the Fire Department for residents of Herculaneum.

The certificate was presented at the christening ceremony that was held on Sunday for the new truck. The ceremony involved a “Wet Down” of the new truck by pumper trucks from neighboring fire departments. The truck was driven across the newly dedicated bridge at Herculaneum, to the fire station. On its route it was sprayed down and then dried off by the participants at the ceremony. The agenda included a memorial and a prayer for the victims of 911 and our first responders that provide these very important services.

Hinkebein said, “I would like to congratulate the Herculaneum Fire Department for their efforts in upgrading their firefighting equipment to improve the safety services to the residents of Herculaneum. I am happy to be a part of this Wet Down Ceremony for the new truck. The funding for the new truck and equipment was provided through the USDA RD Community Facility loan. This is an excellent program to assist communities in financing their projects. It is a self supporting program and provides very reasonable rates and terms. This is a great partnership effort when everyone works together for a common goal of meeting the needs of a community. I want to personally thank everyone that has worked to make this project a reality. Special thanks are extended to our federal elected officials for making available the federal funds for funding community projects.”
