USDA Rural Development Funds Enables Local Business to Build New Facility
Simmesport, Jun 29, 2012 --

@@USDA Rural Development State Director, Clarence W. Hawkins joined the owners of Brudd Construction Company today to break ground on a new 3,700-square-foot building at the Avoyelles Parish Port.

“I commend the Port of Avoyelles, State of Louisiana, City of Simmesport and others, who partnered with USDA Rural Development to assist this company with reaching Phase I of this project,” said Hawkins. “Through the USDA Rural Development Business and Industry Program, the Port of Avoyelles was awarded a Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) in 2010 to purchase 50 acres of land for development opportunities to finance and facilitate the development of small and emerging private business enterprises. Today, we celebrate the second business to locate their company here.”

A guaranteed loan of $380,000 was awarded to Brudd Construction for the new main office facility through USDA Rural Development’s Business and Cooperative Programs. These programs create jobs and stimulate rural economies by providing financial backing for rural businesses. Brudd specializes in heavy highway constructions projects such as bridge approaches, drainage structures and chip seals.
