@@At a Certificate of Recognition ceremony on October 30, 2012, County of Scotland Improvement Corporation was recognized for receiving an $18,000 Community Facilities loan and $9,000 Community Facilities Grant from USDA Rural Development for the purchase of a new patrol vehicle. This essential equipment will enhance the emergency preparedness of the sheriff’s department and improve the safety of the citizens in Scotland County.

“On behalf of the citizenry of Scotland County I would like to express their gratitude for all the help and funding provided by USDA Rural Development in obtaining the new Sheriff’s vehicle,” said Charles (Chipper) Harris, President of the corporation. “My experience dealing with this agency illustrates how cooperation within the Governmental system is supposed to work.”

“USDA Rural Development is pleased to assist the County of Scotland Improvement Corporation with funding for this new patrol vehicle,” said Missouri State Director Janie Dunning. “I want to personally thank everyone that has worked together to make this project a reality. Special thanks are extended to our federal elected officials for making available the federal funds for these kinds of projects.”

The funds are part of the Community Facility Program, which provide loans and grants to public bodies and non-profit entities to assist in the development and improvements of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns up to 20,000 in population.
