East Lansing, Oct 11, 2012 -- USDA Announces Informational Meetings Discussing Services, Claims Process
EAST LANSING, Oct. 11, 2011 - The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture will host a series of meetings to cover updates on current department programs as well as discuss the Hispanic and Women Farmer and Rancher Claims Process.
Hispanic or female applicants that were improperly denied farm loan benefits between 1981 and 2000 may be eligible to apply for compensation and can attend one of the following scheduled public meetings. All meetings are from 10 a.m. to noon:
Oct. 18, 2012 - Oshtemo Charter Twp Hall, 7275 W. Main St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
Oct. 23, 2012 - Howard Miller Comm Center, 14 S. Church St, Zeeland, MI 49464.
Oct. 30, 2012 - Days Inn, 7711 West Saginaw Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917.
Nov. 1, 2012 - Mayfield Township Hall, 1900 N. Saginaw Road, Lapeer, MI 48446.
Nov. 20, 2012 - Baker College of Jackson, 2800 Springport Road, Jackson, MI 49202.
The claims period opened on September 24, 2012 and will close on March 25, 2013.
The meetings are sponsored by USDA Michigan Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Rural Development (RD).
