(DEC. 20, 2013 USDA) RURAL DEVELOPMENT RELEASES ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORT
Schneider: More Than $600 Million Invested into North Dakota
BISMARCK, ND, Dec 20, 2012 --

@@USDA Rural Development releases progress report highlighting the agency’s impact across North Dakota. Over the past year, more than $600 million has been invested in the state to build up communities and infrastructure.

“The report reveals historic investments made into the future of North Dakota,” said Jasper Schneider, USDA Rural Development State Director.  “By partnering with individuals, businesses and communities, we have been able to build critical infrastructure, promote business development, and spur economic activity.” 

With over 40 flexible programs, Rural Development projects are financed through direct loans, guaranteed loans and grants. The report provides detailed information on programs and spotlights project successes. Some of the bigger projects funded include: essential water systems, clinics and long-term care facilities, renewable energy systems, electric and telecommunication services, business expansion and affordable housing. The report also outlines community and regional development efforts such as the North Dakota 2.0 initiative.
