Lincoln, Nebraska, Jul 17, 2013 -- “It is with great pride that I announce Bill Sheppard as our latest recipient of the USDA Rural Development Heartland Award,” said State Director Maxine Moul, USDA Rural Development. Sheppard is the Business Programs Specialist in the Norfolk USDA Rural Developent office.
“We have named this the Heartland Award because the employees who are recognized are at the Heart of our Team at USDA Rural Development,” said Moul.
The Heartland Award is given monthly through nominations submitted by employees for actions that go above and beyond the call of an employee’s duty. The state Rural Development management team reviews the nominations and selects the winner. A traveling trophy is given to the winner selected each month.
“While the Housing Specialist was out of the office for extended medical leave, Sheppard stepped in and helped the housing department out. Because of Sheppard’s housing background, he was able to assist with good understanding of the program and the details of the work. He went above and beyond the call of duty. Sheppard never complained and always had a positive attitude while assisting and is an excellent player to have as part of our Rural Development team!” said Moul.
Sheppard joined Rural Development in December 2006 and is responsible for all the Business Programs including the Business & Industry Loan Guarantee program within his Eastern Nebraska 41 county region. He has been a lending professional for more than12 years. Bill is a graduate of the Schools of Banking Commercial Lending School, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Wayne State College.
