(AUG. 21, 2013) TIOGA MEDICAL CENTER AND USDA PARTNER TO BUILD NEW CLINIC
Tioga, N.D., Aug 21, 2013 --

@@Jasper Schneider, USDA Rural Development state director, announced today that Tioga Medical Center received $8 million in financing to construct a new clinic.

“With a growing workforce and aging population, there is a greater demand for medical services,” said Schneider. “This project will help meet those demands while providing better health care in the oil patch.”

The 15,000 square foot facility will replace the current clinic which has several functional and structural deficiencies. The new clinic will be more efficient, allow for easier transfers to the hospital, and will better accommodate the dramatic increase of patients. Due to the influx of workers in the oil industry, patient numbers have grown from about 6,000 in 2010 to over 24,000 today.

When completed, the clinic will be attached to the south end of the existing hospital. It will have 16 exam rooms, 6 provider offices, space for outpatient education and adequate storage for medical records. The project will also consolidate outpatient services and provide easy access to the radiology and laboratory departments located in the hospital.

Through the Community Facilities program, USDA provided a $6.5 million direct loan and a $1.5 million loan guarantee through The Bank of Tioga. For more information on USDA Rural Development programs, please visit www.rurdev.usda.gov/nd.
