USDA Rural Development Announces Funding for The Lands at Hillside Farms
SHAVERTOWN, Dec. 12, 2013 – USDA Rural Development State Director Tom Williams today announced a $99,485 Rural Business Enterprise Grant for The Lands at Hillside Farms. The grant funds will be used to develop a training program for small horticulture industries in the area by training veterans, displaced workers and those on public assistance to help develop the skills needed in the horticultural business community for re-employment opportunities. The Lands at Hillside Farms will partner with local businesses to provide qualified, experienced candidates for employment.
The funding is being provided through USDA Rural Development’s Business Programs, a program that helps create jobs and stimulate rural economies by providing financial backing for rural businesses through loans, grants and loan guarantees. Last year, Pennsylvania provided funding of over $42 million for Business Programs projects.
President Obama's plan for rural America has brought about historic investment and resulted in stronger rural communities. Under the President's leadership, these investments in housing, community facilities, businesses and infrastructure have empowered rural America to continue leading the way – strengthening America's economy, small towns and rural communities. USDA's investments in rural communities support the rural way of life that stands as the backbone of our American values.
