@@The annual meeting of the National Association of Support Personnel (NASP) concluded on June 26, 2013 in San Diego, California. NASP is a consultative employee association, organized in 1978, whose purpose is to initiate and promote improvements in the delivery system of Rural Development programs and services to Rural America. Throughout the years, NASP has been very successful in this endeavor due to the dedication of its members, as well as its successful consultative relationship with the agency’s administration. Indiana USDA Rural Development employees will be serving in important leadership capacities during the coming year.
USDA Rural Development Bloomfield Area Office Technician Julia Deibert was elected at the 35th Annual meeting of the NASP USDA Rural Development meeting to serve as Zone C Alternate Representative, representing NASP members nationwide. This will require her to carry NASP concerns to Washington, DC periodically and to participate in the NASP Zone C meeting and the 2014 Annual meeting.
Julia has been a very active NASP member for many years. Starting her career with USDA in 1995, she is currently serving as Indiana Association of Support Personnel President (IASP) and has served other board positions. She is presently appointed as the Chairperson for the Administrative Committee of NASP. She was the Chairperson for the Single Family Housing Committee, NASP for the past four years. She is also serving on the SFH Certified Packagers Task Force Working Group, the SFHD Rules Engine Task Force, and on the Leveraging Assets Regionally Working Group for NASP, all which include numerous hours of work outside her normal duties and work station.
She single-handedly owned a working farm for a number of years, owned a small business, and managed three other businesses prior to her career with Rural Development. She attended Indiana University and Ivy Tech Community College and is currently active in many activities and organizations within her community.
Julie Henney, Columbia City Area Office Single Family Housing Specialist was chosen to be the NASP Zone C Representative.
Julie began her career with Rural Development in 1995. A former IASP president, Julie has worked on and chaired various committees and served on the UniFi Task Force since 2002.
Charlene Hale, North Vernon Area Office Business Programs Technician was appointed to the Public Relations Committee and the Rural Business Committee. Charlene has been with Rural Development since 2004. She is a former Public Relations Committee Chairperson and is currently the vice president for the IASP. .
USDA Rural Development’s mission is to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for rural residents. Rural Development invested more than $49 million since 2009 for growth in homeownership, and assistance in home repairs.
