Rural Rental Housing Loans Provides financing incentives for private lenders to work with developers building or buying affordable rental housing developments in rural communities. Grants are also available to fund rehabilitation of rural rental housing financed through Rural Development. In FY-08 our staff helped private lenders and developers work together to provide 150 new or refurbished rental units in Tennessee. Guaranteed Rental Housing Guaranteed Rental Housing (538 Program) – Guaranteed Rental Housing Loans provide federal government guarantees for loans made by commercial lenders to developers of multifamily rental housing for low and moderate income tenants in rural areas. Tennessee 538 Guaranteed Rural Rental Housing Program Projects to Date Rental Assistance Program Provides financial assistance to eligible renters in multi-family rental housing as a first step toward financial stability and homeownership. In FY-08 we began transitioning to renter-based vouchers, helping 10,000 Tennessee families and individuals obtain safe, affordable apartments. Farm Labor Housing Loans and Grants Farm Labor Housing Loans (514 Program) and Grants (516 Program). Farm Labor Housing loans and grants are provided to buy, build, improve, or repair housing for farm laborers Housing Preservation Grants Housing Preservation Grants (533 Program). The Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) program provides grants to sponsoring organizations for the repair or rehabilitation of low and very low income housing.
