See 2009 Community Connect Notice of Funding Availability. · To be eligible a project must serve a single community that has no existing broadband service. · To compete, the community must also have high economic need (measured by median household income) and be very rural. · In 2008 we are pleased that two applications were funded, both in rural northern NH. Construction began in early May and is expected to be completed by September. Partners, Gifford Medical Center and Clara Martin Center, were present, along with representatives from the Office of U.S. Senator Sanders and U.S. Congressman Peter Welch, USDA Rural Development, Randolph National Bank, and DEW Construction. Chelsea Health Center received an $825,000 Community Facility Direct Loan in FY 2008. See News Release for more information. The Early Childhood Center and the office space renovations were made possible by a $1.6 million Community Facility Direct Loan in FY 2007.
