DENTAL CLINIC OPENS WITH USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDS
Disadvantaged to benefit from new facility
NEILLSVILLE, WI – SEPTEMBER 11, 2009–The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Wisconsin State Director, Stan Gruszynski, attended the grand opening of the Marshfield Clinic Neillsville Dental Center here today.
A USDA Rural Development Direct Community Facility Loan of $1,947,800 will was used toward the construction of the dental clinic, which is part of the Family Health Center's FQHC network of providing care, and serves the oral health needs of the poor and disadvantaged residents of southern Clark County, a portion of Trempealeau County, and the residents of Jackson, Eau Claire, Juneau, Monroe and Wood Counties.
“The other night President Obama spoke to the need for affordable health care for all Americans. He said achieving this goal carries more than a moral obligation, it will also define the character of this Nation. I would like to commend the Marshfield Clinic, local and state leaders as well as our Congressional Representatives for their contribution to the dental health of rural Wisconsin and urge the expansion of these services to other areas."
A Community Facility Loan provides essential community facilities for rural communities. Funds may be used to build facilities and purchase equipment for fire and rescue, early warning systems, police stations, health clinics, schools, libraries, hospitals, etc.
Rural Development’s mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. This past year, USDA Rural Development returned over $547 million to rural Wisconsin communities. The funding supports a wide variety of loan, guaranteed loan and grant programs to rural residents in the areas of housing, community facilities, business development, infrastructure, and other development needs.
