USDA Rural Development Presents Award of Excellence

Brookside Apartments honored with an Award of Excellence

WHITEHALL, WI – SEPTEMBER 30, 2009–USDA Rural Development State Director, Stan Gruszynski, announced the selection of  the Housing Authority of Trempealeau County/Brookside Apartments as a recipient of Rural Development’s Award of Excellence, in recognition of their continued dedication to providing affordable housing to the residents of rural Wisconsin.

The Award of Excellence is presented each year during June, in conjunction with National Homeownership Month, to Multi-Family Housing property owners who continuously demonstrate their commitment to providing quality, affordable housing to the tenants they serve.  Because of scheduling conflicts, the presentation of this award was rescheduled for today.

Gruszynski presented the award to the Housing Authority of Trempealeau County Board of Directors at a recognition ceremony that took place today in Whitehall, Wis.

“It is our privilege to recognize the Housing Authority of Trempealeau County for their contribution to meeting the housing needs of their community,” said Gruszynski.  “Brookside Apartments provides both individuals and families safe, affordable housing.  A comfortable, dependable place to call home is an important building block in the growth and development of sustainable communities.  USDA Rural Development is honored to present them with this award.”

Owned by Whitehall Housing Redevelopment, Brookside Apartments received USDA Rural Development Revitalization Financing to complete a total renovation of the 60-unit elderly designated three-building complex. The renovations turned the complex to include 22 units of elderly/disabled independent living facility and 35 units of elderly Residential Care Apartment Complex.
