Message from Chad B. Padgett, Acting Alaska State
Director
Welcome to the website of Alaska’s office of USDA Rural Development.
Our goal at Rural Development is to work with other federal, state,
and local partners to enhance the quality of life in rural Alaska
and to ensure rural residents participate fully in the Alaska and
global economy.
Working closely with both for-profit and non-profit sectors, along
with state, tribal, and local entities, we develop and administer
the loan and grant programs for Rural Development in Alaska. Each
of our six Area Offices and our State Office is staffed by dedicated
professionals committed to serving their neighbors in search of
information and assistance.
We have over 40 different programs aimed at providing safe and sanitary
housing, essential community facilities, business support, telecommunications,
electrical service and energy efficiency. We are the only federal
agency that can literally build a community from the ground up.
In Fiscal 2006, the Alaska office of Rural Development delivered
over $100 million through Rural Housing, Community, Business, and
Rural Utilities programs. For Fiscal 2007 and the years ahead, we
look to continue this record of achievement and look to continue
improving the quality of life of rural Alaskans.
We help Alaskans achieve their dreams every day, and we'd like to
help you, too. For more information about Rural Development programs
in Alaska and how we can help, look through this website and our
annual reports, stop by any of our offices, or just give us a call
at (907)-761-7705.
Sincerely,
Chad B. Padgett
