FY 2000 Projects
 

Rural Business Enterprise Grants

The city of Cuthbert will use their grant to create a revolving loan fund.

The SLCCG, Inc, (a non-profit corp) will create a revolving loan fund.

The City of Tennille will be able to make infrastructure improvements to with the grant approved for them.

A mural project will allow the town of Colquitt to better market themselves as a tourist destination.  To see some pictures of the first completed mural,  go to this page.

Quitman County will use their RBEG funds to create a revolving loan fund.

The Heritage Foundation, Inc, was awarded an RBEG and will create a business incubator.

A regional tourism initiative will be created in northeast Georgia through the SHDA, Inc.

A small RBEG was awarded to North Georgia College so they could provide technical assistance.

A revolving loan fund was created by the Middle Georgia Regional Development Center to fund micro-businesses in their region.  This initiative will target minority and women-owned businesses who traditionally have limited access to capital.

The Lower Chattahoochee RDC will create a revolving loan fund for use in their area.


Rural Business Opportunity Grants

The Development Authority of Heard County was awarded $20,000 to study the development of the Chattahoochee River Corridor and eco-tourism opportunities.

The Crisp/Dooly Joint Development Authority was awarded $135,000 to study and plan for a regional industrial park.

The CSRA RDC was awarded $95,000 to fund a portion of a GIS system which will map 12 counties in the region for use by industries and local governments to help in the location of suitable sites for development.


Guaranteed B&I Loans

Fresh Beginnings of Valdosta, Georgia, was able to expand their business and restructure some of their debt.  This company provides gift baskets to many businesses as "thank you's" for purchasing products or using their services.  150 jobs were saved and 45 were created.

Bowlin' Place, Inc. purchased land and built a 24 lane bowling center in Douglas, Georgia. 20 jobs are expected to result from this investment.

A metal processing facility located in Cartersville, Georgia, was constructed for Cartersville Steel Warehouse.  45 jobs were saved and 20 additional jobs will be created when this building is finished.

All Metal Service & Warehousing, Inc. was able to purchase machinery and equipment for a metal processing facility in Toccoa, Georgia.  An additional 20 employees will be hired to go with the 45 already employed.

A 42 bed nursing home and assisted living facility will be built in Carrollton, Georgia.  Pruitt Properties, Inc. will create 42 new jobs with this new supervised care facility.

L.P. Gas Holding Company of Tifton, Georgia, used there funds for real estate improvement, working capital, and debt restructuring.  32 jobs were saved while 12 new jobs were created.


Direct B&I Loans

This loan was made to a woman-owned business to help her establish and expand her operation.  65 jobs are expected to be saved/created.

Intermediary Relending Program


One loan was made this year for $500,000.  65 jobs are expected to be created from these new businesses.


Rural Cooperative Development Grants

2 grants were approved this year for a total of $145,000.  Theses grants were made to assist minority producers in the state.

Community Adjustment and Investment Program

Thomaston Mills, Inc, was able to restructure their debt and in the process save 1,600 jobs.  This company has suffered from the effects of NAFTA and now will be able to stary competitive in the apparel business.
