RBS Program Accomplishments in 1999

Rural Business Enterprise Grants The city of Richland received an RBEG to help construct acceleration/deceleration lanes that helped attract private businesses that included a convenience store/gas station and restaurant. 

The city of Eastman received an RBEG for water/sewer improvements to help an emerging small business save its present work force and providing capacity for future growth. See a picture of the ceremony by clicking here.

The town of Preston was able to use RBEG funds to improve a road to grow three agri-businesses. 

The city of Alma added a carrot processing line to their Alma Berry/Vegetable facility that allowed a local cooperative to process and market their product. 

Calhoun/Gordon Arts Council, Inc. was able to restore historic "Rooker" hotel, converting it into a cultural center that will attract tourists and provide jobs to local residents.  To see a some photo's of this project,  click here.

The city of Hartwell used RBEG funds for infrastructure improvements that initated construction of a 7,000 sq. ft. facility to house a stamping/fabrication/assembly operation. 

An RBEG was made to the Etowah Foundation, Inc. to develop a blacksmith shop and facility, resurface a parking lot, and renovate the Science-Teacher Resource Center. 

The City of Clayton Downtown Development Authority acquired and developed a parking lot to facilitate business development. Ten small businesses are committed to expand when the parking lot is finished. 

Northwestern Technical Institute was able to purchase a transmission simulator for their Commercial Truck Driving program. This simulator allows students to train in a safe environment before being put on the road. 

Fort Oglethorpe used program funds to expand a sewer line that directly facilitated the development of 11 new businesses, creating 84 new jobs in the area. 

A downtown parking lot was developed and renovated in Cartersville through the RBEG obtained by the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority. 

The city of Reynolds renovated the old GA National Guard facility into usable office space for the Farm Bureau Insurance Agency. 

The city of Midville obtained their RBEG to improve potential employment through the creation and expansion of a rural learning center to benefit the residents of the rural Enterprise Community.
 


Guaranteed B&I Loans


Georgia Mountain Water was able to expand their business, restructure debt, and purchase additional equipment with this loan. 419 jobs were saved in the Blue Ridge, Georgia community. 

Dawsonville/Dawson County Museum Park Authority was able to construct an interactive museum dedicated to automobile racing. 42 new jobs were created in this northeast Georgia community. 

Union Hill Grocery, Inc. expanded their existing convenience store/gas station in this rural area which created 5 new jobs and saved the 6 that were already employed. 

Sutton Lumber Company, Inc. was able to restructure their debt load enabling them to save the 198 employees jobs. 

HLA, Inc., of Dahlonega, constructed 2 dormitories at Hidden Lakes Academy with their G-B&I loan. 

Fabrication Technologies of Vidalia, Inc, consolidated some debt that allowed them to save 18 jobs and create an additional 4 positions in this southeast Georgia community.  To see some pictures of this facility, click here.

Farm Fresh Frozen Foods, Inc. was able to refinance interim debt, pay fees, and obtain working capital in order to increase their employment base from 7 to 39 in Americus, Georgia. 

Prime Turf, Inc. restructured their debt load and increased their payroll by 25 new positions. 

Wild Adventures, Inc., a regional amusment park located in Valdosta, improved some land and restructed some debt with their loan. They also created 34 new jobs at their site. 

Atlas Storage, Inc. of Gainesville, was able to construct an office, warehouse, and self-storage facility that created 116 new jobs. 

Cisco Travel Plaza, Inc. built a new travel plaza in St. Marys, Georgia, and created 95 jobs in this coastal community. 

SCI Services, Inc, saved 9 jobs and added 12 more when they restructured their debt and purchased equipment for their business in St. Marys. 

Charlie E. Lewis, Inc. was able to further improve his bed & breakfast and hunting reserve in Thomasville with the G-B&I loan he obtained while creating 36 new employment opportunities. 

Folsom Heavy Equipment, Inc. and Folsom Construction Co. of Cordele improved their company's liquidity and obtained working capital when their loans were approved. 20 jobs were created while 96 were saved in this middle Georgia Enterprise Community. 


Direct B&I Loans

Arlington Apparel Co-op purchased the business from their former employer, thereby saving the 162 jobs in this very rural community. 

Raider Apparel, Inc. of Jesup, acquired a business in Alma, Georgia, and saved the jobs of 49 employees.


Community Adjustment and Investment Program

R&D Auto-Truck Salvage, Inc. was able to purchase land and build a metal building in Jeff Davis County. This loan saved 10 jobs at the business. To see a photo of the facility, please  click here.

Precision Manufacturing Technology, Inc. was able to acquire a business in Vidalia, Georgia. This allowed for the hiring of 8 employees to supplement the 63 already employed. 

Hungry Jakes, LLC was able to purchase land, build a building, and purchase equipment for a convenience store, gas station, restaurant in Alamo, Georgia. This new business created 15 new jobs in this middle Georgia town.
