Community Programs Loans and Grants  - 1999 Accomplishments



Description:

The following information shows the amount of funds obligated by program type for Fiscal Year 1999.


Water and Waste Loans and Grants                                      $32,001,550

14 loans and 9 grants were made during the year to finance small municipal and rural water and wastewater systems in 13 communities 
across the state. Service was provided and/or improved for over 13,000 users.


Community Facility Loans (Direct)                                         $6,059,780

9 loans were made during the year to finance a wide range of essential community facility structures, including 3 day care centers, 2 health care 
facilities, a mental health clinic, an assisted living facility, a fire station, a courthouse renovation project, and 2 Community resource centers.


Community Facility Grants                                                     $172,900

4 grants were made during the year to assist in financing 4 of the above listed projects. Grants are available to supplement the loan assistance for 
projects that lack economic feasibility.


Appalachian Regional Commission Grants (ARC)                     $2,129,770

10 grants were made during the year in designated Appalachian regions in the northern third of the state. These grants are intended to create jobs 
and promote private sector initiatives by funding water/sewer and community facility type projects. These 10 grants created approximately 1,486 jobs.
