Rural Development is a mission area of the United States Department of Agriculture whose programs are administered through three rural development services; the Rural Utilities Service (RUS), the Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBS), and the Rural Housing Service (RHS). These services are provided by Rural Development personnel through a network of State, Area, and Community Offices.
The framework for our USDA Rural Development five year strategic plan was developed based on the following vision and mission statements: VISION STATEMENT PARTNERS IN HELPING THE PEOPLE OF RURAL AMERICA DEVELOP SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES. MISSION STATEMENT ENHANCE THE ABILITY OF RURAL COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP, TO GROW AND TO IMPROVE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE BY TARGETING FINANCIAL AND TECHNICAL RESOURCES IN AREAS OF GREATEST NEED THROUGH ACTIVITIES OF GREATEST POTENTIAL.
