CAIP Rural Business Programs 2000 Accomplishments The information that follows details the accomplishments in all RBS
Programs in Georgia for Fiscal Year '00.
Direct B&I Loans - $842,000 One loan was made this year which helped a woman-owned business to expand her operation. 65 jobs were created and/or saved. Guaranteed B&I Loans - $48,514,000 2,316 jobs were saved and/or created with the 12 loans made this year.

Rural Business Enterprise Grants - $1,274,101 15 grants were made with this initial State allocation. To see
a list of these projects, click here.
A total of 343 small businesses benefitted from the grants with 869
jobs being saved or created.
Rural Economic Development Loans and Grants - $1,100,000 A loan was made to Tri County EMC in Gray, Georgia, and will be used
to fund the construction of a satellite campus for Macon Tech in Eatonton,
Georgia. Another loan was made to Three Notch EMC to aid an airplane
painting business in Early County. The grant was made to Okefenoke
EMC and will assist the Blackshear Family Practice medical clinic in Brantley
County.
Rural Business Opportunity Grants - $250,000 3 applications were approved for Georgia during the first round of funding. The Development Authority of Heard County was awarded $20,000 to study the development of the Chattahoochee River Corridor and eco-tourism opportunities. The Crisp/Dooly Joint Development Authority was awarded $135,000 to study and plan for a regional industrial park. The CSRA RDC was awarded $95,000 to fund a portion of a GIS system which
will map 12 counties in the region for use by industries and local governments
to help in the location of suitable sites for development.
Intermediary Relending Program - $500,000 Georgia was successful in the national IRP competition and was awarded
another $500,000 to establish a revolving loan fund. 150 jobs are
expected to be created from this award. A total of more than 5,232
jobs have been created or saved from the IRP program in Georgia.
Appalachian Regional Commission Grants - $0 Community Adjustment and Investment Program - $10,000,000 Georgia ranks second nationally in the amount of loans made with this
program. The loan figure is reflected in the total for the G-B&I
program. 1,600 jobs were saved when this loan was closed..
