                  Rural Business Programs 2002 Accomplishments


The information that follows details the accomplishments in all RBS Programs in Georgia for Fiscal Year '02.


Guaranteed B&I Loans  B & I Guaranteed Loans - $3,765,800

3 loans were made during FY '02 which created and/or saved 157 jobs.


Direct B&I Loans

Due to no program funding, no direct loans were made this year.

RBEG      -  $1,376,749

15 grants were approved this year for a total investment of $1,376,749.  These grants helped created and/or saved 531 jobs.

RBOG     - $150,000

3 grants were approved for a total of $150,000.  These grants will help create an estimated 326 jobs.


Intermediary Relending Program   -    $2,250,000

3 projects totaling $2,250,000 were approved this year.  These loans will create or save 240 jobs.

Cooperative Agreement      -   $150,000

A $150,000 grant between USDA and Fort Valley State University will allow the University to offer technical assistance and business development information to targeted counties in middle Georgia through their Rural Business Outreach Institute.


Cooperative Services

Technical Assistance was provided to 16 developing or existing cooperatives within the state. Cooperative ventures include oilseeds,
peanuts, pecans, chicken litter, and eco-tourism.
