June 28, 2005 -- Rural Development Acting Under Secretary Gilbert Gonzalez (click photo to enlarge) was in Dayton, Nevada, for National Homeownership Month to present a $113,805 grant to Citizens for Affordable Homes, Inc. The grant will support the company's activities on behalf of prospective self-help housing applicants interested in building their own homes in Gold Country Estates.

June 1, 2005 -- Rural Development's Housing Programs Administrator Russell Davis (click photo to enlarge) nails siding to one of the 15 houses now under construction at Cedar Creek Landing, a self-help housing subdivision in Lincoln, Delaware. The event was part of a wall-raising and work-day celebration hosted by Milford Housing Development Corporation to kick off National Homeownership Month.
June 1, 2005 -- Rural Development Acting Under Secretary Gilbert Gonzalez visited the Delta Region to meet with minority business owners at a listening forum. Ephram Lewis (center, click photo to enlarge) owns a rice processing facility in Earle, Arkansas, that received financing through Rural Development's Business and Industry loan program. While Mr. Gonzalez was in the Delta Region, he toured Mr. Lewis's plant.

He and Construction Supervisor Abimael Rodriguez are looking at housing plans. Through the Self-Help project in Cidra, 20 families are constructing their own homes with the help of construction experts.
