Agriculture Budget Proposes Increases in Key Areas
February 4, 2002 -- Secretary Ann M. Veneman answers questions at a February 4, 2002 press conference releasing details of the Bush Administration's proposed FY 2003 USDA budget. The FY 2003 budget calls for $74.4 billion in spending. It includes full funding for farm safety net programs, substantial increases for homeland security, funds meat inspection programs at record levels, increases spending for international trade and provides greater resources for low-income Americans who need food assistance.
