January 26, 2004 -- Acting Rural Development Under Secretary Gilbert G. Gonzalez, Jr. (left, click photo to enlarge) presents $5.7 million for the Southwestern Electric Co-op to Ann Garcia, the retiring General Manager, and Ty Bradley, the incoming GM, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Co-op will use the loan funds to update its old substation built in the 1950s, and add 58 miles of transmission lines to allow 200 new customers to connect to the electric system.
