December 23, 2002 -- North Dakota officials recently joined State Director Clare Carlson in celebrating the delivery of $76.7 million in Fiscal Year 2002 Rural Development program funding to North Dakota residents. The monies were used for utility and business projects, and to provide single- and multi-family housing to rural families.

December 12, 2002: Briefings on Available USDA Programs and 2002 Farm Bill
December 10, 2002 -- Under Secretary Thomas Dorr recently visited rural North Carolina to recognize the Northeast Guilford Volunteer Fire Department, and other organizations, that have received Community Facilities assistance. North Carolina Rural Development is completing a two-year effort to improve rural homeland security through investments in fire and rescue departments.

December 10, 2002 -- Under Secretary Thomas Dorr recently visited the Poplar Grove Child Development Center in rural Guilford County, North Carolina. The center provides childcare, Head Start and after school services to children, and is is being rebuilt with funds approved by Rural Development and the Bush Administration. Rural Development is providing a $720,000 low-interest Community Facilities loan for improvements to the center.

November 25, 2002 -- Rural Development Deputy Under Secretary Gilbert Gonzalez visited the Southernmost Illinois Delta Empowerment Zone to recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations that are helping the region achieve economic growth and recovery.
