Welcome to the Iowa Guide for Class I Environmental Assessments. The general purpose of Environmental Assessments is to ensure projects are in compliance with all laws governing environmental protection. Please note projects must comply with both federal and state laws.

This guide is meant to assist you in completing Form RD 1940-21. The following webpage will contain links that correspond with each item on the form, respectively. As you go through the pages on the Iowa Guide and complete the form, be sure to attach supporting documentation in the same order as items appear on the form.
