Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI)


This program will be used to develop the capacity and ability of private, nonprofit community-based housing and community development organizations, and low income rural communities to improve housing, community facilities, and community and economic development projects in rural areas.

Grants may be used to:

  • Provide technical assistance to develop recipients' capacity and ability to undertakeprojects to improve housing, community facilities, or community and economic development.
  • Develop the capacity of recipients to conduct community development programs.
  • Increase leveraging ability or successful essential community facilities by providing resources to recipients for training, staffing, and other related costs.
  • Assist recipients in completing predevelopment requirements for housing, community facilities, or community and economic development projects by providing resources for a technical assistance program.
  • Improve recipient's organizational capacity by providing training and resource material on developing strategic plans, board operations, and management.
