Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI)

This program will be used to develop the capacity and ability of private, nonprofit community-based housing and community development organizations, and low income rural communities to improve housing, community facilities, and community and economic development projects in rural areas.

• Applicants are qualified private and public (including tribal) intermediary organizations.
• Intermediaries must provide at least an equal amount of matching funds.  In-kind contributions cannot be used as matching funds.
• Minimum of $50,000.
• Maximum of $300,000.
• Funds must be used in a 3 year period.
• Recipients and beneficiaries must be located in an eligible rural area.
• Recipients must be private nonprofit organizations or low-income rural communities.
• Application deadlines vary from year to year. There is a 90 day application period from the date the Notice is published in the federal register.
