Safe, Dependable Water Comes to Area Residents Residents of Dana, Long Point, Reading and Ancona and other surrounding areas have been facing the problem of trucking in water as often as four times a month simply to meet the basic household needs. Their private water supplies are running low, are contaminated with methane and natural gas, taste and smell bad and are often murky. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development awarded a loan and grant for $2 million that will help finance a water distribution system that will bring a dependable supply of contaminant-free water to the homes The lives of the residents of Dana, Long Point, Reading and Ancona are going to be much simpler once they don’t have to worry about their water supply. Many residents currently have to use a nearby Laundromat when it comes time for them to do their laundry since the water supply is running so low. With the implementation of this new water system, household residents will be able to do the everyday household tasks without worrying if there was enough water. Not only will they have a dependable water supply, they will have a water supply that is safe for consumption. The investment made into the community by Rural Development will bring health, environmental and economic dividends for years to come.
