Single Family Housing Program

Our Single Family Housing Program has two major categories: direct loans that are made by USDA directly to limited income persons to purchase a modest home using payment assistance to reduce the payments, and guaranteed loans which are made by lending institutions but are guaranteed by USDA Rural Development.

Check out these facts for 2002:

1,155 new Hoosier homeowners using USDA loans

3% first year delinquency rate for USDA direct loans

83% of our housing loans were leveraged with our partners

$76 million in home mortgage financing provided by USDA

Over 200 families improved their homes using USDA loans and grants

National Homeownership Week was celebrated across the nation in June.

A picture of homeownership celebration

At this Indiana celebration in Tyner, Marshall County, USDA Rural Development staff joined homeowners in their yard to recognize the value of homeownership.
