Recognized by USDA Rural Development

Valley Center, KS. –  USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks today recognized Mennonite Housing Rehabilitation Services of Wichita and a Park City family for their participation in the Agency’s housing programs.  Rural Development made the presentations in conjunction with the Agency’s National Homeownership Month celebrations being held across Kansas this week.

“Mennonite Housing Rehabilitation Services is being honored as the Agency’s ‘2003 Outstanding Non-Profit Partner’ for their work in the USDA Rural Development’s Mutual Self-Help Housing Program.  Through the partnership between Mennonite Housing and Rural Development, a total of forty-six homes have been or will be completed in Valley Center and Goddard.  Forty-six families are working together to cooperatively build their home, along with realizing the dream of homeownership and strengthening their community”, State Director Banks commented during this morning’s ceremonies.

USDA Rural Development also recognized the Timothy and Shanna Zorn family of Park City for their participation in the Agency’s Single-Family Direct Loan Program.  Shanna Zorn thanked Rural Development and all other parties who assisted in helping them to secure a home to raise their family.

During the past five years, USDA Rural Development has provided homebuyer education and financing assistance to over 5,000 families across Kansas.

Representatives from the Wichita offices of U.S. Senator Sam Brownback and U.S. Senator Pat Roberts also participated in today’s housing ceremony.
