For Wastewater Facilities Improvements

From USDA Rural Development

Topeka, KS –  USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks announced today the City of Meriden will receive a $600,000 grant and a $600,000 loan from the Agency’s Water and Waste Disposal Programs for improvements to the community’s wastewater pump station and treatment facility.  Additional funding of $400,000 is being provided by the State of Kansas.

“USDA Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Programs help communities keep pace with the needs of their citizens to reduce or eliminate pollution of water resources and improvement of waste facilities.  These programs promote the economic growth of the whole area, bringing jobs to the region and enhancing the quality of life for the residents,” commented State Director Banks in today’s announcement.

Meriden’s improvement of their waste water system will benefit the community’s 706 citizens, several businesses, and the local public school system.  This funding will assist in the second phase of the project.
