USDA Rural Development announced on September 4th the availability of $27.7 million in competitive grant funds to help foster agricultural commodity value-added activities. Proposals are requested from eligible independent producers, agricultural producer groups, farmer or rancher cooperatives, and majority-controlled producer-based business ventures interested in this program. The application period for the Agency’s 2003 ‘Value-Added Producer Grant Program’ is from September 4 to October 20, 2003.
