City of Lyndon Receives
USDA Rural Development Funding

Topeka, KS – USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks today presented the City of Lyndon with a check totaling $1.076 million to help fund improvements to the community’s water system.  Funding for the Lyndon project, provided through the Agency’s Water & Waste Disposal Program, will benefit all of the city’s 522 households and businesses.

“USDA Rural Development’s Water & Waste Disposal Program helps communities keep pace with the needs of their citizens to ensure Kansas residents have access to a clean, safe and reliable water source.  This important water program promotes the economic growth of the whole area, supports new jobs for the region and enhances the quality of life for the community’s residents,” commented State Director Banks.

To serve the needs of Lyndon, the project will include the replacement of approximately 19,900 linear feet of water line and construct a 300,000 gallon elevated storage tank.  USDA Rural Development funding consisted of $644,800 grant and $431,200 loan proceeds.
