Value-Added Agriculture Grant Program Meetings Held By USDA Rural Development
Topeka, KS – USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks announced today that the Agency has completed informational meetings covering USDA’s 2004 Value-Added Producer Grant Program. The final details of the Agency’s Value-Added Producer Grant Program, which were announced by USDA and published in the Federal Register earlier this week, were covered during the meetings.
“USDA Rural Development is committed to assist production agriculture in becoming more profitable through value-added agricultural business opportunities. This program can provide greater economic returns for Kansas farmers and livestock producers and stimulate the creation of new jobs, along with enhancing rural economic prosperity and improving quality of life”, commented State Director Banks.
Value-added agricultural proposals are being requested from eligible independent agricultural producers, agricultural producer groups, farmer or rancher cooperatives, and majority-controlled producer-based business ventures interested in this program. The application deadline for the Agency’s 2004 Value-Added Producer Grant Program is July 30, 2004.
