USDA Rural Development Office
Opens In Newton

 

Topeka, KS. – USDA Rural Development has announced the Agency’s El Dorado office has moved to Newton. The Agency’s Newton office is located in the USDA building at 1405 South Spencer Road, Newton. The Newton office will serve 16 counties in the south-central part of the state. Those counties served are: Barber, Butler, Chase, Chautauqua, Cowley, Elk, Greenwood, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Marion, Pratt, Reno, Sedgwick, Stafford, and Sumner.

“The opening of the new USDA Rural Development office in Newton will position the Agency to better serve south central Kansas. The Agency looks forward to delivering additional business, community, and housing programs to this area of the state,” commented USDA Rural Development Director Chuck Banks.

USDA Rural Development’s programs support such essential public facilities and services as water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities, electric and telephone service, renewable energy systems and value-added agriculture enterprises. The Agency promotes economic development by supporting loans to businesses through banks and community-managed lending pools; technical assistance and information to help agricultural and other cooperatives become established.

USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, the Agency provides equity and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure in rural America.
