USDA Rural Development To Host
Ft. Riley Regional Program Meetings
Abilene , Clay Center , Council Grove & Wamego Presentations Scheduled

Topeka, KSUSDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks announced today that the Agency will host four ‘ Ft. Riley Regional Initiative’ informational meetings during the month of August. The presentations, which will cover USDA Rural Development programs available for the region, are a result of the planned expansion of personnel at Ft. Riley and the recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency and Ft. Riley.

“USDA Rural Development’s ‘ Ft. Riley Regional Initiative’ will provide an excellent opportunity for communities benefiting from the Ft. Riley expansion to expand affordable housing opportunities, along with enhancing local infrastructure. Whether it be improving local housing or upgrading community projects such as health care services, USDA Rural Development is positioned to assist in this important Kansas economic development opportunity,” commented State Director Banks.

The four USDA Rural Development informational meetings, which will cover both the Agency’s housing programs and community development programs, will be held:

Clay Center / August 9, 2005 : 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Clay County Emergency Services Academy , 703 2 nd Street , Clay Center .

Wamego / August 10, 2005 : 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Highland Community College, Room 45 & 46, Wamego, KS Industrial Park, 500 Miller Drive, Wamego.

Abilene / August 11, 2005 : 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Abilene Public Library,
209 NW 4 th, Abilene .

Council Grove / August 18, 2005 : 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Morris County Court House, 501 W. Main, Council Grove.
