SEK-CAP Transportation Facility Dedicated

Girard , KS – USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks joined Southeast Kansas Community Action Program (SEK-CAP) Executive Director Steve Lohr this afternoon in dedication ceremonies for SEK-CAP’s new transportation facility located in Girard. The new facility, funded in part by USDA Rural Development, will support SEK-CAP’s programming efforts in southeast Kansas.

“USDA Rural Development appreciates the opportunity to support SEK-CAP’s programs which serve southeast Kansas . The Agency’s Community Facility Program assists eligible nonprofit organizations to deliver their important community assets for rural Kansans. USDA Rural Development would like to compliment SEK-CAP for their fine work over the past years,” commented State Director Banks at the ceremonies.

“SEK-CAP thanks USDA Rural Development for the Community Facility Program loan to help construct this new transportation support facility. SEK-CAP appreciates USDA Rural Development’s support of this new facility, and previous projects, of our organization. SEK-CAP would also like to thank Congressman Jim Ryun for his support of SEK-CAP’s programs,“ remarked SEK-CAP Executive Director Lohr.

The State of Kansas , through a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation, also provided financial assistance with the construction of the new facility. Mokhtee Ahmad with the Federal Transit Administration and Deb Miller with the Kansas Department of Transportation were also present for the dedication ceremonies.

USDA Rural Development’s Community Facility Program can provide financial assistance to eligible organizations for the construction or improvement of schools, libraries, childcare, hospitals, medical clinics, assisted living facilities, fire and rescue stations, police stations, community centers, public buildings and transportation facilities.
