$742,000 USDA Rural Development
Loan Assists New Ft. Scott Theater
Topeka , KS – USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks today joined residents and Fort Scott community leaders and local residents in groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of a new movie theatre for the community. The Agency’s Business & Industry Guaranteed Loan Program provided a guaranteed loan of $742,000 to the Union State Bank of Uniontown for the theater project.
State Director Banks, in comments
made during the ceremony, remarked, “USDA
Rural Development is very pleased to be a partner in this important community
project. The Agency administers many programs which provide excellent economic
development opportunities which also improve the quality of life for rural
Kansans. Creating jobs and enhancing community assets are important factors
in helping so many of our rural communities in Kansas."
“USDA Rural Development has a wonderful program for businesses, and
we cannot express enough thanks for the approval of our guarantee loan. We
are deeply appreciative,” said theater co-owner Amanda Des.
USDA
Rural Development’s
programs support such essential public facilities and services as water
and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities,
electric and telephone service, renewable energy systems and value-added
agriculture enterprises. The Agency promotes economic development by supporting
loans to businesses through banks and community-managed lending pools;
technical assistanceand information to help agricultural and other rural
cooperatives become established.
