$120,000 Funding For Housing Preservation Grants
Announced By USDA Rural Development
Topeka , KS – USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks announced today that the Agency has approved three applicants, totaling $120,000 under the Agency’s Housing Preservation Grant Program. USDA’s Rural Development Housing Preservation Grant Program provides financial assistance to sponsoring organizations to assist in the repair and/or rehabilitation of single-family and rental residences located in rural communities, with a maximum population of 20,000.
In today’s announcement, State Director Banks commented, “The availability of affordable housing in our rural areas continues to be a major factor which contributes to economic development. Many times, with certain repairs, existing rural homes can continue to be a valuable asset to Kansas families and their communities. USDA Rural Development’s Housing Preservation Grant Program can ultimately provide financial assistance to eligible owners to make necessary repairs to these homes.”
USDA Rural Development’s Housing Preservation Grant Program has
provided over
$3 million in grant funding to Kansas to enhance the quality of life by increasing
accessibility and usefulness or rural homes.
Specifically, the three recipients approved for funding by USDA Rural Development follow:
Coffey County Housing Authority, Burlington, KS - $40,000 grant. Agency funds will be used to assist 18 / 21 low income families for the repair and rehabilitation of their homes.
United Tribes of Kansas and SE Nebraska, White Cloud, KS - $40,000 grant. Funding will be used to assist 6 low income families for the repair and rehabilitation of their homes.
Great Plains Development, Inc., Dodge City, KS - $40,000 grant. Agency funds will be used to assist 7 low income families for the repair and rehabilitation of their homes.
