Fowler Senior Center Gets Tour From Kansas USDA Rural Development State Director And Area Dignitaries

June 25, 2002 - Fowler, KS. -- Chuck Banks, Kansas State Director for USDA Rural Development visited the Fowler Senior Center along with area dignitaries. "This is a nice facility," Banks stated. "It's a great example of the partnership between the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development and CMS Electric Cooperative using a Rural Economic Development Grant"

The loan funds are now part of a revolving loan fund monitored by CMS Electric Cooperative in Meade. The funds are available for business development and non-profit organizations.

"We appreciate the Fowler senior citizens for helping us establish the revolving loan program," Kirk Thompson, general manager of CMS Electric Cooperative, stated.

All members of the Fowler Senior Center present were quick to praise CMS Electric Cooperative for all their assistance in the building of their new facility.

Rural Economic Development Loans and Grants are made to Rural Development's electric and telecommunications borrowers, who in turn lend the funds for projects that create new job opportunities and ensure the safety and security of rural citizens.
