Community Facilities Program

Community Facilities Loans and Grants

  • can be made to develop essential community facilities in rural areas and towns
  • are available to public entities such as municipalities, counties, and special-purpose districts, as well as to nonprofit organizations and Indian tribes
  • may be used to construct, enlarge, or improve community facilities for health care, telecommunications, public safety, and public services

Direct Community Facilities Loans

  • may be made in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population
  • are available to borrowers who are unable to obtain needed funds from other sources at reasonable rates and terms

Guaranteed Community Facilities Loan Program

  • can guarantee loans made and serviced by eligible financial institutions and lenders
  • may guarantee up to 90 percent of any loss of interest or principal on the loan (normally, guarantees will not exceed 80 percent)
  • may be made in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population
