Water and Waste
Disposal Direct Loans
- may be made to
develop water and wastewater systems, including solid waste disposal
and storm drainage
- are available
in rural areas and to cities and towns with a population of 10,000 or
less
- are available to
not-for-profit organizations and public entities, such as municipalities,
counties, special-purpose districts, and Indian tribes
- are for applicants
unable to obtain funds from other sources at reasonable rates and terms
Water and Waste Disposal
Guaranteed Loans
- may be made for
the same purpose as direct loans
- are made and serviced
by lenders such as banks and savings and loan associations
- will not exceed
80 percent guarantees on any loss of interest and principal on the loan
Technical Assistance
and Training Grants
- may be provided
to identify and evaluate solutions to water and waste disposal facilities,
and to assist associations in preparing
- applications for
water and waste disposal loans and grants, and to improve operation
and maintenance of existing water and waste disposal facilities
- may be made to
private nonprofit organizations that have been granted tax exempt status
by the Internal Revenue Service
Solid Waste Management
Grants
- may be made to
public and private nonprofit organizations
- provide technical
assistance and/or training to associations located in rural areas and
to cities and towns with a population of 10,000 or less
- are used to reduce
or eliminate pollution of water resources, and to improve planning and
management of solid waste facilities.
may be provided to enhance operator skills in operations and maintenance,
identify threats to water resources, and reduce the solid waste system
Rural Water Circuit
Rider Technical Assistance
- provides on-site
technical assistance to help assure cost-effective operation of rural
water systems
- is provided at
no charge
- may be requested
by officials of rural water systems or by Rural Development personnel
Distance Learning
and Telemedicine Grants and Loans
- assist entities in acquiring
equipment, software, or facilities that can be used to provide telemedicine
or distance learning service
- may be made to incorporated
organizations, partnerships, Indian tribes, or any other legal entity
which operates or will operate libraries,
- medical clinics, hospitals,
vocational training facilities, colleges, and schools
Distance Learning
and Telemedicine Grants
- may be used to cover up
to 70 percent of the total project cost, not to exceed $500,000
Distance Learning
and Telemedicine Loans
- may be used to cover up
to 100 percent of the total project cost, not to exceed $10,000,000
