FARM LABOR HOUSING LOANS AND GRANTS

Purpose:  To increase the supply of adequate housing for domestic farm laborers  

Program Type:  Loan and Grant

Eligible Applicants:  Individual farm owners who are unable to obtain credit elsewhere, associations of farmers, and broadly based nonprofit corporations 

Eligible Areas: No limitation

Authorized Purposes:  Funds are used to buy, build, improve, or repair farm labor housing

Rates and Terms:  Loans carry a one percent interest rate for a term of 33 years or the useful life of the facility, whichever is less; grants are only made to nonprofit corporations on a need basis up to a maximum of 90% of total development cost

When to Apply:  Application for on-farm housing may be submitted year round; application periods for off-farm housing are announced annually in the Federal Register through a Notice of Fund Availability (NOFA)
