NATIONAL CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM

 

Purpose:  To encourage economic opportunity and sustainable community development

Program Type: Cooperative partnerships among colleges and universities, USDA Rural Development, and Empowerment Zone and Enterprise communities; Grant funds are available

Eligible Applicants:  Institutions of higher learning serving rural communities with Empowerment Zone or Enterprise Community designations

Authorized Purposes:  Funds are used to develop and and maintain community and economic development projects relevant to their community

When to Apply:  The opportunity for new designations is announced periodically in the Federal Register
