Purpose: To assist agricultural producers and small businesses reduce energy costs and consumption and help meet the nation's energy needs. Program Type: Grants Eligible Applicants: An agricultural producer or small rural business. Individual applicants must be citizens of the U.S. or reside in the U.S. after being legally admitted for permanent residency. Entities must be a t least 51% owned, directly or indirectly, by individuals who are either citizens of the U.S. or reside in the U.S. after being legally admitted for permanent residency. The applicant must also demonstrate financial need. An applicant applying as a small rural business must be headquartered in a rural area and the proposed project must also be in a rural area. Authorized Purposes: To purchase a renewable energy system or make energy efficiency improvements. Grant funds are not for research and development and, therefore, will only be used for commercial or pre-commercial technology.
