SINGLE FAMILY HOME REPAIR LOANS AND GRANTS
 

Purpose:  To increase the availability of affordable credit opportunities for rural residents to improve their living conditions by making repairs to their homes 

Program Type:  Loan and Grant

Eligible Applicants:  Very low income households who own and occupy their home; grants are available to applicants 62 years of age or older who cannot afford to repay a loan for the full cost of repairs (Income Limits)

Eligible Areas: Cities and unincorporated areas of 10,000 population or less; in some circumstances cities between 10,000 and 20,000 also qualify (Ineligible Area Maps)

Authorized Purposes:  Funds are used to make repairs to single family homes; grants funds may only be used to correct health and safety hazards

Rates and Terms:  Loans carry a one percent interest rate and a 20 year term; grants must be repaid if property is sold within three years
