The Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBS) assists rural residents in forming new cooperatives and also provides technical assistance to existing cooperatives. A cooperative is defined as a user-owned economic entity that may process and market products, purchase production supplies or consumer goods, provide housing and credit, build and operate rural utilities, or provide other services needed by rural residents. By forming cooperatives, rural residents are able to reduce costs, obtain services that might otherwise be unavailable and achieve greater returns for their products.
For more information please see the national site for the Rural Business-Cooperative Service or view the rural business materials under our For More Information page.
