Welcome
State Director Virginia A. Manuel Bio
Rural Development is a diverse mission area of the United States Department of Agriculture comprised of the utilities programs, business-cooperative programs, and housing programs. These three program areas provide a variety of financial services to communities and individuals in the state of Maine. USDA Rural Development offices are located in Bangor, Lewiston, Scarborough, and Presque Isle and administer the loan and grant programs for Rural Development in the state. The agency's goal is to work with other federal, state, and local groups to enhance the quality of life in rural Maine. Our dedicated employees work diligently to assist the people of rural Maine and to develop sustainable rural communities. We measure our success by the impact on the lives of the people that we serve. We provide financing for many different programs that benefit the citizens of rural Maine. Our multi-family housing programs provide apartments for families and senior citizens. Our water and sewer loan and grant programs financed improvements in numerous communities servicing thousands of households and providing them with safe drinking water and modern sewage disposal systems. Hundreds of families have become homeowners, most for the first time. Businesses have received financing that allowed them to expand, creating and saving rural employment opportunities. Fire, rescue, and medical services, as well as daycare centers and nursing homes, have benefited from USDA Rural Development programs. Thanks for visiting our Web site. We look forward to serving you. Return to the Main Menu. |
