ALCONA COUNTY RECEIVES $66,000 FROM USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT

 EAST LANSING, June 26, 2009 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Area Director Shelly Fuller today presented a $66,000 ceremonial grant check to Alcona County for library equipment and emergency response vehicles.

 “This event helps demonstrates some of the ways USDA Rural Development is helping Alcona County in diverse ways,” said Fuller.  “This is an investment in public safety and a better quality of life for local residents.”

The money consists of $2,000 for library equipment and $40,000 for an ambulance.  Also included are three $8,000 grants to help purchase three Chevrolet Impala police vehicles for the Sheriff’s Dept.
