USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES $500,000 FOR CLARE, GLADWIN COUNTIES
EAST LANSING, July 21, 2008 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett will host a series of ceremonies on Monday, July 28 commemorating more than $500,000 in grants and loans for communities in Clare and Gladwin counties.
The events are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend.
The list below indicates the time, location, recipients and award amount of the presentation.
Time: 10 a.m. Location: Ross Lake Park (pavilion), M-18 in Beaverton.
The Economic Development Corporation of Gladwin County will receive a Rural Business Enterprise Grant of $50,000.
Time: 12:30 p.m. Location: Meeting Room A (basement), Clare County Courthouse, located at 225 W. Main Street, in Harrison.
Clare County
will receive $288,500 for a revolving loan fund to assist small businesses, to
replace the courthouse roof, and to purchase a tractor for use at the airport.
Middle Michigan Development Corporation will receive $99,500 for a feasibility
study on a mixed-use business incubator.
Mid-Michigan Community Action Agency will receive $50,940.23 to assist
homeowners with home repairs.
The Clare County Road Commission will receive $48,000 to purchase of two trucks
and an emergency generator.
USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents.
