of Agriculture • Rural Development USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES $500,000 FOR CLARE, GLADWIN COUNTIES EAST LANSING, July 21, 2008 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Director for Michigan Gene DeRossett will host a series of ceremonies on Monday, July 28 commemorating more than $500,000 in grants and loans for communities in Clare and Gladwin counties. The events are open to the general public and everyone is welcome to attend. The list below indicates the time, location, recipients and award amount of the presentation. Time: 10 a.m. Location: Ross Lake Park (pavilion), M-18 in Beaverton. The Economic Development Corporation of Gladwin County will receive a Rural Business Enterprise Grant of $50,000. Time: 12:30 p.m. Location: Meeting Room A (basement), Clare County Courthouse, located at 225 W. Main Street, in Harrison. Clare County
will receive $288,500 for a revolving loan fund to assist small businesses, to
replace the courthouse roof, and to purchase a tractor for use at the airport. USDA Rural Development's mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity, liquidity, and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
